I am a PhD candidate in Philosophy at University College London working on the intersection of formal epistemology and metaphilosophy, with a particular interest in reasoning from examples.
One strand of my research looks into the way in which different kinds of reasoning from examples are vulnerable to various threats. For example, I think there is a tradeoff about the level of detail with which philosophers flesh out their cases.
One problem for reasoning from underspecified cases is that the reasoning might be vulnerable to Simpson's paradox.
Another strand tries to ease the general problem of getting from amorphous real-world situations to well-defined formal problems.
Before UCL I read Philosophy and French at the University of Oxford and later received an MSc in Computer Science at UCL. I have also worked as a data scientist at the UK Health Security Agency and a data science instructor at General Assembly.
Comments on drafts are always welcome.
